Debian,
I don't know anything about this family and they are not mine. That being said, this is a tough one. Many of the old Perry newspapers have been digitized at newspaperarchive.com and I have a subscription. Usually *someone* will show up in there somewhere, but none of these folks do.
I've always figured there were two branches of Holmes in Perry -- the one in which I have interest, and the one with all the publicity! You appear to have a death date of 1912 for Mahala. Do you know where she married William Holmes and where she died? I'm just curious. How about the others -- where did they die? How did you establish the move date of 1861 and know that Sarah was included in it?
