The first link included listings for the 1900 census... since the girls were still with their parents and brother in the same census, they wouldn't be listed. But that doesn't mean that isn't the home to which they were sent months or years later. You might just email the woman at the present-day agency and ask about the really old records. Who knows -- maybe they are in a collection somewhere.

It is pretty brutal in Iowa right now... school was cancelled yesterday and again today for ice and snow and sub-zero temperatures. We are in the top 10 for yearly snow totals, and may hit a record yet!
