The following is from an article dated July 12, 1900:
" A very quiet wedding occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S.B. DOWNEY, Wednesday, July Fourth, at half past two o'clock that united in marriage their daughter, Miss Vinnie, to Mr. James P. TANGYE. Only the immediate family were present while Rev. J.A. McKAY pronounced them husband and wife. Mr. TANGYE is the popular traveling salesman of E.G. Sterns & Co., of Chicago, and Miss Downey is one of Dexter's most highly esteemed young ladies who will make an excellent queen for a home. Mr. and Mrs. TANGYE departed Wednesday evenning for a tour in Minnesota and will stop at the lakes. They will be at home to their friends in Dexter after August twentieth, and will occupy rooms in Mrs. Agnes HINDORFF's residence. The Sentinel joines with their friends in wishes for a most happy and prosperous life -- Dexter Sentinel."
