Mrs. Minerva Adye
Minerva Walker was born in Hardin county, Kentucky, April 29, 1823; died at the home of Geo. W. Castor, Murray, Iowa, January 25, 1904, aged eighty years, eight monts and twenty-six days, having been sick only one day. At the age of seven, 1830, she moved with her parents to Perry county, Indiana. The journey was made by the whole family on horseback, taking all their belongings with them. In 1846 she was married to Mr. Joel C. Adye and in 1855 moved to Louisa county, Iowa. The next year, in the fall of 1856, they moved to Clarke county and she has made this her home ever since. Mr. Adye died in the fall fo 1883. About the year 1860 Mrs. Ady gave her heart to Christ and united with the Baptist church and has ever since been a consistent and faithful member. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Emeline A. Castor, of Murray and an adopted son, Mr. John S. Adye, of Osceola, six grand-children and ten great grand-children.
The funeral services were conducted from the Baptist church Thursday, January 28, 1905 at 10 a.m. by the pastor, Rev. M. C. Parrish, assisted by Rev. C. E. Pomeroy, of the Christian. The sermon was preached from I Cor. 15:44. The remains were laid to rest in the Hopeville cemetery, there to await the general resurrection.
