WILLIAM ADAMS, an old settler of Clarke County, Iowa, was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania, January 6, 1819, a son of John and Mary (Donley) ADAMS, of Irish ancestry. He was reared in his native State and Virginia, remaining with his parents until manhood. He then went to Illinois, and was married in that State to Nancy J. Milligan, also a native of Pennsylvania. In 1855 he came to Iowa and settled on the farm where he now lives, in Clarke County, which contains 120 acres of good land. Mr. and Mrs. Adams have had twelve children, ten of whom are living. They are members of the Presbyterian church.
