Death of Charles Dick

Charles Dick of Murray was killed
late last Wednesday afternoon when
a fast Burlington train crashed into
his car, on the railroad crossing, in
the west part of Murray. Mr. Dick
who was 54 years of age, had spent
his entire life in the Murray neigh-
borhood, with the exception of one
year, when he lived in this county.
Mr. and Mrs. Dick had stopped
at the crossing, to allow a fast
freight to pass, and started across
the double tracks, not seeing the
passenger train approaching. When
they were near the track, Mrs.
Dick saw the train and managed to
get out of the car, but Mr. Dick
was caught in the wreckage, and
died instantly.
He is survived by his wife, and
one son, Gaylord of Murray. Fun-
eral services were held at the
Church of Christ in Murray, Satur-
day afternoon and burial was made
in the Murray cemetery. Mr. Dick
was a nephew of Mrs. J.E. Hamil-
ton of Winterset, and some of the
relatives driving over for the ser-
vices were Mr. and Mrs. J. E.
Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Ham-
ilton, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dick
and son Miles.
