I apologize for not answering your message way back in 2007 when I made my initial post - but I never saw your message! I was pretty much a novice then and must not have clicked on the button to make that post a favorite. Definitely my lose because your post could have saved me a lot of time!
I do have all of that info and a great deal more on Stella. All of those children were hers - not adopted. She simply listed that George was the father even though he had been dead for many years. Charlotte Gilbert Puffer, Stella's mother-in-law, did not feel that Stella was an 'appropriate' mother for her three ligitimate children: Georgia Alice (1888), Cady (1889 - my grandfather) and Julia (1891) and so Charlotte took them to her daughter Julia Puffer Olmstead in Wisconsin. The three children were raised by Charlotte and Julia and her husband George Olmstead. George was later transfered to Idaho where he became Supervisor of the Railroad Company and Vice President of a bank. All of their obits are listed in Idaho. If you are interested in more info - even though I see this is not your line, please contact me at

Thanks again for your excellent work. And I wish that I would have seen it earlier!
