Iowa Dorothy Catherine, daughter of Henry and Anna (Olbertz)
Zurn, was born on January 28, 1923, in
Carroll,
Iowa. She attended school in
Carroll and graduated from
Denison High School. After her schooling, Dorothy worked for
Montgomery Ward and Commercial Savings Bank.
On October 3, 1950 Dorothy was united in marriage with Anthony “Tony” C. Venner at St. Lawrence Church in
Carroll. Three children were born into this union. Dorothy and Tony rented a farm northwest of
Carroll, then in 1956 they bought and moved to their farm northwest of
Manning. Dorothy enjoyed quilting and crocheting and she was a member of Sacred Heart Church in
Manning.
In 1991 Dorothy and Tony retired and moved to
Manning. After Tony passed away in 2002, Dorothy remained at her home until she became a resident of the
Manning Plaza in May 2008. In September 2009 she was admitted to
Manning Regional Healthcare Center. She died there on Friday, October 2, 2009 at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 4 days.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter Deanne J. Fuchs; sisters-in-law: Margaret
Venner, Marie

Venner and Rita Venner; and brothers-in-law: Evertt

She is survived by sons Eugene
Venner and Ronald
Venner both of Manning; daughter Janet and husband
Doyle Fuchs of Dripping Springs, TX; grandson Jeremy
Fuchs of Austin, TX; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
