Hi Sue,
If you find additional information about this couple, think it will be descendant information.

Dean,

If you are checking back here for replies to your query you need to move your search to Mass. for ancestors. Check out the following links.

http://www.rootsweb.com/~maberksh/ -- Usgenweb site for Berkshire Co., Mass

http://www.rootsweb.com/~maberksh/towns/lenox/church-on-the-... -- cemetery list for Church on the Hill Cemetery, Lenox MA

This list has

822 Brooks, Desire N. 12/05/1859 -- Aged 79 Wife of Elisha Brooks (born abt 1781 per the 1850 census I posted below and born about 1780 per this cemetery record -- looks like a match to me) Probale grandmother to the Elisha Brooks married to Harriet Flint you are researching.
823 Brooks, Elisha 12/02/1847 -- Aged 62 years -- Looks like this Elisha is her hubby to me. And Look who is buried right there next to them.

824 Brooks, Harriet M... 9/17/1866 C... Aged 47 years... Wife of Anson Brooks -- Per census records I posted below.. the mother of your Elisha Brooks married to Harriet Flint. Looks your Elisha was named after his paternal grandfather -- very common practice back then.

In addition there is a Crowell Brooks, his wife Ann Maria Osborn.. their daughters Ann Maria, Francis and son, James are buried in the same cemetery. (Your Elisha Brooks had a bother named Crowell according to the 1850 and 1860 information that I posted.) Looking at the information the cemetery does have posted this should be a relative.

The following information is for the Crowell buried in that cemetery..

1860 > MASSACHUSETTS > BERKSHIRE > Lenox

Series: M653 Roll: 488 Page: 48

Crowell Brooks..49.. Male..... Blacksmith
Ann M ".........45.. Female
Ann M " ........18.. Female
Anson " ........16.. Male..... Farm Laborer
Jane " ........15.. Female
James F......... 7.. Male

1870 > MASSACHUSETTS > BERKSHIRE > LEE

Series: M593 Roll: 601 Page: 375

Lists a second Anson Brooks and his wife Abagail and son Joseph living in the next reisdence to Crowell Brooks and Wife Annie. Crowell is a Blacksmith and Anson is a Carpenter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Third Crowell Brooks in the 1860 census in the same County.. He's also 20.. same age as your Elisha's brother, Crowell. Seems H. is a popular middle inital for the Crowells. Incuding yet another listed below.
1860 > MASSACHUSETTS > BERKSHIRE > PITTSFIELD
Series: M653 Roll: 488 Page: 275
Crowell Brooks... 20... Male.. Apprentice Carpenter...
(This one shows up in the 1900 census in 1900 > GEORGIA > IRWIN > 1537-MILITIA DIST Series: T623 Roll: 205 Page: 78) as 60 years old.. Married for 39 years to Addie A who is 55 and the mother of 2.. 1 living. Still in GEORGIA in 1910 1910 > GEORGIA > BEN HILL > 1-WD FITZGERALD Series: T624 Roll: 172 Page: 70 .. Addie is with him but now listed as mother of 2.. 0 living. Crowell is listed as a carpenter.
I find this all very interesting as it appears that naming children after ancestors seems to run very strong in this line as does the carpentry profession.
There are also Flints buried in the same Cemetry for the link above. Harriet Flint and your Elisha Brooks must have married in Mass per census records posted below.. so will to bet those Flints buried in that cemetery are related to your Harriet.
Since Fred Nuss immigrated from Germany in 1873 per census records posted.. I'd suggest checking for immigration records for him ... Germans to America would be a good source for that and it is possible to check German Church Records or OSBs to gather information on the Nuss lines.
Good Luck
