Augusta Rowe Lentzkow died 12 November 1900 at age 40 in Banks township of Fayette County and is buried at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery north of Sumner. Death record shows that she died of TB and census records indicate that she had 5 children - Augusta Rowe (b. about 1882) married Mortiz Hopka, Hedwig Lentzkow, Max Lentzkow, William Lentzkow (m. Dora Minnie Gosse) and Hellena Lentzkow. Children were placed in orphans home at Waverly where Hedwig died in 1904. Husband of Augusta Rowe Lentzkow was August F. Lentzkow who was serving time at Anamosa Prison in 1900. They had been married about 1888 in Germany and came to the USA about 1893. Looking for any additional information on this family and why August was in prison. Any help or clues appreciated !!

August Lentzkow would have been my husband's great grandfather. I am looking for information as to why August was in prison and how many times he had been married and if there are any children other than those shown on the obituary.

I saw your posting from 2002....do you have any further info on August and Augusta (Rowe) Lentzkow other than what you show? Augusta's illegitimate (?) daughter Augusta Rowe was my great grandmother and I have no clue who her father was. I welcome any info you have on this family.

I don't know who Augusta's illegitimate daughter father was. I have the names of the first Augusta's children and their history. I believe that Augusta's oldest daughter was born in Germany and have quite a bit of information on the family that I would be glad to share. I have to have all the information in front of me to look everything up. Are you fron the Mortiz family?
