My great-great grandfather Friedrich Mundfrom and wife Dora or Doris or Daaris Haase came to Bremer County prior to the 1870 census from Illinois, before that Hanover, Germany. Louise Ladage married Friedrich's son (also named Friedrich) in 1885 at the Siegel church near Tripoli, I don't know anything else about her. My other g-g-grandparents are: Henry Bany and wife Christiana Dietrich, Frederick Bergmann and Christina Krumwiede. I'd be happy to share info with anyone who can help.

I have done research on Frederick Bergman. He died abt 1873 as a fairly young man in Waverly. I believe his story is included in the 1985 History of Bremer County. His brother Heinrich D. Bergmann was my ancestor. Their father was Frederick Bergman, Sr. His will is posted on the Bremer Genconnect. However at the writing of the will Frederick Jr has already passed away.

Please communicate directly at Rbergman@ultimanet.com or we can begin a public dialog on the query page. I have no primary evidence on Bany, Mundform or Krumweide but I have filmed records available here in California for Bremer County.

I am interested to find out if Louise Mundfrom married Henry Krumwiede c 1873 in Bremer Co. Was Louise a dau of Frederick Mundfrom? and Doris Haase. Has anyone found the Mundfrom family in 1860? According to 1870 census Henry was b c 1852 in Han and Fred jr b c 1856 in IL. But I haven't found them in IL?

Also would like to know what happened Christina Krumwiede Bergmann after 1873 when her husband died, any idea?

Comment: Marriage records are available on film thru LDS SLC
I have not done research on these names but know that Krumweides were on same ship as Bergmanns in 1858.

Was Louise a dau of Frederick Mundfrom? and Doris Haase. Has anyone found the Mundfrom family in 1860?
Comment: the 1900 census for any living Mundfrom would indicate year of immigration. Germans' to America may show exact date. 1985 Bremer History may have description of these dates. 1925 Census may show parents. Bremer County Gen Society may do this research for you.

According to 1870 census Henry was b c 1852 in Han and Fred jr b c 1856 in IL. But I haven't found them in IL?
Comment: These names are frequently spelled with imagination. Try indexes with variation in spelling.
No birth records are available for IL this early. Check all county histories 1878, 1917

Also would like to know what happened Christina Krumwiede Bergmann after 1873 when her husband died, any idea?
She married Lahmann-see 1985 Bremer History.

There was an August Mundfrom that farmed down near my gggrandparents in Dayton Township. I don't see any of the names that you mention, but August is listed as being 38 in 1895 and is listed as being born in Illinois. Would this be a son of the Mundfrom that you are seeking information on?

Thanks for the leads Big Eric and Ribergman! I live in the country so most of the reference materials you cite, I do not have access to, so the specific name of Henry Lahmann helped tremendously. And I will research the Anugust Mundform that Eric mentioned online at Ancestry. That is all I have access to here at home.
Thanks again for all your help,

Hello

I seen your post or query to the Bremer Co, Iowa RootsWeb Message board that mentions the surnames of Mundform and Krumweide. I tried your email but it didn't work.

We must be related if we both have names like that in our tree, huh !! Besides that my great grandparents, Fred. H. Hans and both his wives lived in Bremer Co before and after the Civil War.

The unverified info I have is that Hattie was the daughter of Geo. Wm “Henry” Krumweide and Louisa Mundfrom both from Germany .

My relative by marriage, Hattie Krumweide (born 17 Oct 1875 in Waverly, Bremer Co, Iowa died 5 Mar 1969 in Seattle, WA). She was married to William D. Hans who was the brother of my grandfather, George Hans. George and also William were brothers to Fred “Lone Star” Hans. Fred was a famous scout during the Indian Wars, a US Marshal, and also a detective for the railroads in Nebraska . I have dozens of newspaper articles that were published in many cities and states about Fred’s exploits with his guns. One of the articles mentions the name of Fred’s partner, Henry Crumweid. I don't have the date or name of the paper but you may be able to find it if you join one of those searchable newspaper archive subscriptions.

the info below are my research notes from my data base and comments ref Hattie--

"SUNNYSIDE---Mrs. Hattie Hans, 93, and her son, Walter David Hans, 65, were burned to death in their apartment Wednesday at 2903 Morgan St., Seattle. Mrs. Hans and Mr. Hans were former residents of Sunnyside. Mrs. Hans was born at Waverly, Iowa, and married William D. Hans in 1895 at Omaha, Neb. They moved to Sunnysdie in 1902 where Mr. Hans died in 1911. In 1922 she moved to Yakima where she was employed at the Washington Junior High School for 16 years. For the past 25 years she had lived in Seattle. She is survived by three sons, J. William Hans, Sunnyside, Charles M. Hans, Marysville, and Milton Hans, California; two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Zierow, Chehalis, and Mrs. Clara Kinsley, Seattle; 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Mr. Hans was born in Sunnyside. Besides the brothers and sisters already listed, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Martin, San Francisco."
