Walter James Hardie and Perry Hartman Hardie, two of the sons of Robert and Katharina Spiers Hardie, resided in Black Hawk County in 1917. I listed all the children of Robert and Katharina Spiers Hardie, as they may have also been residing in Black Hawk County at the same time.

Karin, your theory that other members of the family may have been in Black Hawk county at the same time as Walter and Perry is correct. Henry Steele HARDIE and William George HARDIE both registered for the draft there, as did Walter and Perry. (See below.) There was also an Ethel HARDIE (born 1907) indexed as head of household in Cedar Falls in 1930.
