I had a request on another post for the names of David's children so here is all that I have.

Anna Botts possibly married before marrying William Marshall (unknown birth except in KY) unknown marriage year, but location is assumed to be KY
known child is David C Marshall (b. May 1856 in KY and d. March 1, 1941 in Dayton, OH)
David married Anna C Gump (b. May 1, 1868 KY d. Feb 3, 1960 Dayton, OH) marriage was around 1884 or 1885 in either KY or Indiana
David and Anna had 12 children listed below (Exact marriage dates of the children are not known and not what I am looking for at this time: I want information on David C Marshall's parents or grandparents or Anna Marie Botts' parents. I only listed all the children because they were requested. I do not need information on them. I have marriages and children for them. this is not my focus right now. I am looking to trace my Marshall line BACK not forward. I am stuck after 1856 when David was born. I only recently found his parent's names, but don't know anything else about them.)

I do have the grandchildren's names of David, but that is not what I need help with. I need help tracing David BACK. I can only trace him back to his birth in 1856. I know his father was William and mother was Anna Botts, but cannot find a marriage certificate or any census reports or family trees with any William having a son named David except for a black William and black David. Mine are white people. Thanks for any help. Hopefully you have all the information needed since you have as much as I have.
