Hello: I am looking for the parents & siblings of my GGGG grand mother ELIZABETH BLACK (Smith) April 1766 VA - Wed Dec. 19, 1793 Prince Edward Co. VA to Joseph A. Smith (May 1765 at sea to May 6, 1847 Johnson Co IND) & Died May 1841
Johnson Co. IND. My Elizabeth was described (on her 1793 Surety Marriage Bond) as "the SPINSTER daughter of James Black ..." I have that record. My Elizabeth moved from Wythe/Graysonb county VA in 1828 to Johnson Co. IND. She had 9 children (7 boys, 2 girls) all born in Virginia and all surname of SMITH. I have found nothing of merit on the James Black, nor the name of his wife, where they were from and nothing on Elizabeth's brothers and sisters. There are lots of Black surnames in Virginia, Tennesseee, Ohio, Alabama, Canada, and yes in Indiana. Most have been blind alleys for more than 10 years, but maybe you have something. My email is: LAUPME@AOL.COM. Merry Christmas.
