I am also looking for a Daniel Dimmott Ward or a Daniel DeWitt Ward born 1804 in Nova Scotia, Canada d. 1882 in Quincy, IL, USA. He married Harriet Newell Cook b. 1821 in Nova Scotia. Harriet's family came on the Mayflower. Her father is Manasseh Cook b. 1766 and her mother is Olive Beal b. 1788. All in Nova Scotia. Harriet would certainly be a second wife (see speculation below) as Daniel would have been in his 40s when they married.
Children are William, Charles, Margaret, Francis, Sarah, Henry, Harriet, Rosaman, Mary, Albert, John, Edgar. They were living in Ralls County, MO in the 1860 census and Quincy, ILL in the 1870 census.
Daniel's siblings are Sarah and John.
Possible reasons Daniel's parents have no history is that the family sypathized with the king and perhaps had lived in one of the northern United States until the Revolution when they went (back) to Nova Scotia. OR he had a difference of opinion with the law and had to either change his name or in some other way had to disappear. People more knowledgeable than I have looked for them. They just aren't anywhere.
