Charles Weikel, 87
Charles Weikel, 87, of Swiss Village in Berne and a native of Wells County, died at 1:40 a.m. Sunday at Harborside Health
Care Center in New Haven, where he had been a patient one day.
A retired farmer, he also was a self-employed mason and carpenter.
Mr. Weikel was born on Jan. 9, 1911 to Frank and Frances Prough Weikel. His first marriage in 1929 was to Velma Flum,
who died in 1955; his second marriage in 1957 was to Ora Mae Dubach, who died in 1994.
Mr. Weikel was a member of the Cross United Church of Christ in Berne.
Surviving are two sons, William W. Weikel of Geneva and James F. Weikel of New Haven; a stepson, Lawrence Dubach of
Bluffton; a stepdaughter, Dorothy Napier of Bluffton; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren;
and five great-great-grandchildren.
A stepdaughter, five sisters and two brothers are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne and burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery
at Ossian.
Calling times at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m..
