I am the son of Mary Vontana (Cashman) Green whose parents were Elisha Abraham Cashman and Safrona Ann Alberson. I believe this Safrona is the Sofonia A you mentioned in your posting. Grandma's parents were Samuel Alberson and Ella McCallester. Also according to our information Lulu had a twin and that twin died early, but no age or date. That probably is the Nellie you mentioned. We found Samuel and Ella's grave in the Alberson cemetery NW of Geneva, IN.

Lulu married a Mr. Coon and they had ten children.

I am searching for the parents and other ancestors of Samuel and Ella. I am also interested in any information on the Cashman line. I am willing to share any information I have.

My mother had two sisters Ella (Cashman) Armantrout, and Genevieve (Cashman) Hawkins and brother Dwight Cashman and we think a brother Clyde who died as an infant.

I have information on Cashmans from Breckinridge Co. KY. Settled there around 1800. Would this be your line?

John,

Yes, that is my line. Thank you for this posting. I was able to find that my great-grandfather George and his family including my grandfather Elisha were in Breckenridge Co in the 1880 census. I looked in the 1850 census and saw a Joseph Cashman with a son George W 2 years old which is a close age match for George listed as 31 in the 1880 census. I am not sure he is the continuation of my line though. Any help you can give me will be appreciated. Joseph's occupation appeared to be a cooper which I believe was a barrel maker. I could never figure out what his son Thomas' occupation was. It looked like the word was Tounger but I could find no definition for that. Do you have any clarification on that?

Hi,

The parents of Samuel ALBERSON are Chrales ALBERSON b. 20 Nov 1826, OH, d. 6
Feb 1878, Phenix, Wells Co., IN & Mary Ann BROWN b. 8 Dec 1821, Centerville,
Wayne Co., IN, d. 18 Nar 1909 Phenix, Wells Co., IN. Samuel and Mary Ann
were married 18 May 1846 Randolph Co., IN. They had 11 children, Samuel
being the 7th.

Samuels parents being Joshua ALBERSON, Sr. b. 1794 North Carolina, d. 18 Jan
1879, Adams Co., IN & Catherine DEETER b. ca 1808, OH. They had 6 children.
Charles being the eldest.

Mary Ann BROWN's parents were Philip BROWN & Julie TAYLOR. I only know of
the one daughter and this is all the info that I have on them.

Ella Maria MCCOLLISTER , (note that MCCOLLISTER is the correct surname.), is
the daughter of Henry C. MCCOLLISTER b. 26 Feb 1832, Greene Co., PA, d. 29
Apr 1907 Wells Co., IN & Eliabeth A. SMITH b. 26 Nov 1839 OH, d. 7 Feb 1924
Wells Co., IN. They were married 17 Dec 1855, Clinton Co., IN.

Henry's parents are a mystery. Two biographies refer to him leaving home at
aprox. age 14 and going to Pittsburg, down the Ohio R. and into the state of
OH. He shows up in Ross Co. OH 1850 Census as Henry MCCOLLISTER although his
true surname is BEBOUT. As to how he aquired the MCCOLLISTER surname or why
he left home, know one seems to know. I have been unable to 'prove' the
above story. Henry seems to taken the knowledge of what happened to the
grave.

Elizabeth's parents are James T. SMITH b. DE & Lydia M. WAIT b. OH. This is
the only child I have for them.

Note that Henry and Elizabeth moved with the SMITH family in 1856 to Jay Co>Co., IN.

I'm afraid I don't have anything on the CASHMAN line.

Hope the above helps. I have more info such as children if you would like.

Have a great day. I look forward to comparing notes further.

Frank MCCOLLISTER
