NeighborsBOYS ARE IMPROVING.
Bluffton, Ind., Aug. 21. -- Dr. Thomas Morris, of Mt. Zion, was in Bluffton yesterday and he reports that the two children of Samuel
Lugar are making slow improvement from attacks of infantile paralysis, and strong hopes are now entertained for their recovery. The eldest boy, aged 8, is now able to raise one hand slightly, but the other hand and both legs remain helpless. The younger child is paralyzed in the lower limbs, but has not lost the use of his arms, not having become as serious as the elder boy.
SECHLER STILL IN JAIL.
Bluffton, Ind., Aug. 21. -- John
Sechler, Uniondale man, charged with shooting his sister-in-law, Carrie
Holcomb, is still confined in the county jail in defaul of $1,200 bond and he will probably remain there for several days, at least. Sechler was taken to Uniondale late yesterday by
Sheriff Johnston, the defendant thinking that he could get the required bond from friends there. He was unsuccessful, however, but has some promises of being able to get out within a few days.
WELL KNOWN TEACHER DEAD.
Bluffton, Ind., Aug. 21. -- Miss Lettie A. M. Miller, who for a number of years was a teacher in the Perk school, died Saturday at Hope hospital in
Fort Wayne. The deceased was born and reared in
Wells county and was educated in the Bluffton schools and at the state normal at Terre Haute. Death resulted from an operation for the removal of a tumor.

Petitions are being circulated among the citizens of Bluffton for the proposed new
Wells county hospital.

Belger, of a Bluffton theater, has been awarded the first prize for an essay on "Efficiency in Advertising" in a contest conducted by the "Pictures Magazine."
