Ossian, Ind., March 20. -- The Sargasso club was very pleasantly entertained Tuesday evening by Mrs. Earl D. Poffenberger. Thirteen members were present and responded to roll call with quotations from Oliver Wendell Holmes. Mrs. Wm. S. Smith read a very interesting paper on "The Making of Books." A half hour followed in discussing current events, after which teh hostess, assisted by her mother, Mrs. Temp Fryback, of Logansport, served very dainty refreshments. The next meeting of the club will be Saturday afternoon, March 22, with Mrs. Otto Merriman.
Dr. A. H. Metts, of Fort Wayne, was in Ossian Tuesday to see his nephew, J. W. Metts, who has not been so well this week.
Mrs. Sarah Foughty and her sister, Mrs. M. H. Gorrell, recently of Jefferson, Ohio, and Mrs. Charles Goshorn were all guests in Fort Wayne Monday evening.
Mrs. Ina Miller is confined to her home suffering with a sprained ligament of the knee, the result of an accident on Monday.
Mrs. M. E. Ornsby, of Michigan City, was called to Ossian Tuesday on account of the serious condition of her father, William Archibold.
Mr. and Mrs. George Shepherd were in Bluffton Monday afternoon as guests of their daughter, Mrs. A. W. Brown.
Mrs. L. E. Wilson is on the sick list.
Claude, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Koons, has been quite sick for a few dyas.
Mrs. Devona Crist and children leave today for their home in Dayton, Ohio.
Sidney Swaim is moving his family and household goods from Ossian into the home on the Swaim homestead, to make a home for his father, James Swaim.
Helen Frances, the ten months old child of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Houser, who died of pneumonia at their home in Van Wert, Ohio, was brought to Ossian on Tuesday for burial. Mr. Houser is a son of Mr. and Mrs. David Houser, of Ossian.
H. T. Fryback, of Warren, was the guest Monday of his brother, Ward Fryback, and sister, Mrs. E. D. Poffenberger.
Mrs. D. A. Walmer, of Bluffton, was here Tuesday to see her brother, J. W. D. Metts.
William Archibold, who lives with his daughter, Mrs. Mart Heline, is very seriously ill with heart trouble.
Charles Woodward, of Fort Wayne, was the guest Tuesday of his mother, Mrs. Will Woodward.
Mrs. Carl Wilson was a Fort Wayne visitor on Tuesday.
Mrs. Luther Jackson, who has been at the Lutheran hospital in Fort Wayne for several weeks, suffering with goiter, was brought home the first of the week.
William Beck, who has been living east of Ossian, is fitting up with gas his recently purchased home on Lefever street, preparatory to moving into it.
Mrs. John S. Krewson is on the sick list.
A. S. Elzey is holding a series of protracted meetings at Kingsland.
Mrs. Charles Jennings went to Fort Wayne yesterday afternoon in an auto to bring home with her her mother, Mrs. Letitia Bowman, who has been ill of pneumonia this winter at the home of her son, Ulysus Bowman, of Fort Wayne.
Mr. and Mrs. Otto Merriman, who have been living this winter at Murray, where Mr. Merriman is teaching, are moving their household goods back to Ossian today.
Mrs. Charles Goshorn, Miss Grace Derr, Mrs. M. H. Gorrell and Mrs. Sarah Foughty go on Friday to Uniondale to spend the day with Mrs. Lee Ormsby.
The Junior league of the M. E. church is to give na Eastern window sale Saturday afternoon at Charles I. Weirich's store.
Charles Reidel has purchased the Jasper Middaugh property on West Mill street, where Mr. Reidel has been living for some time.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Vananda and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Merriman are arranging to leave March 31st for Peoria, Ill, where Mr. Vananda and Mr. Merriman are going to take an eighteen weeks' course in manual training at the Illinois State university. They will return to Ossian late in August to resume their school work.
Miss Blanch Wilson was taken again to the Lutheran hospital, where she underwent an operation.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Rector and children left Tuesday for Gaston, where they will spend several weeks as guests of Mrs. Rector's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Trout. This visit is taken in the interest of Mr. Rector's health.
Clyde Wagner has been off duty from Weirich's store on account of an abscess.
George Tribolet, of Bluffton, was an Ossian visitor Tuesday.
Clark Beatty has been practically off work the past week, due to an abscess on his great toe.
Fred Lepper, of Fort Wayne, was in Ossian Tuesday calling on old friends.
