Shoup met with a very serious accident Monday while loading a stove onto his wagon at the C. & E. depot at
Markle. His team became scared at an automobile and Mr. Shoup was struck by the hind wheel of the wagon and knocked down, the wagon passing over his body. One rib was broken and one kidney badley crushed. Mr. Shoup's son, Dr. H. B. (or E.?) Shoup, was telephoned for at once, and also Dr. Duemling, of
Fort Wayne, was called, and everything possible was done to ease his suffering. At this writing Mr. Shoup is resting as well as could be expected under the circumstances.
