Ossian News

Rev. Garfield Dawe, of Chicago, was in Ossian Wednesday afternoon and evening calling on friends. He has been given a two months' leave of absence by his church and was on his way to New York city to sail for England, where he will spend his vacation with his people.

Miss Elizabeth Demaree, English teacher in the Fort Wayne high school, spent the first of the week here with Mrs. John D. Hanna.

Miss Gladys Kern, of Decatur, is here visiting with her cousin, Miss Ilow (sp?) Elzey.

John Branigan is spending this week visiting with relatives in Kenton, O.

Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Goodwin have as their guests this week the latter's nieces, Jeanette and Virginia Steele, of Decatur.

Miss Fay Ehret, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Ehret living southeast of town, was operated on Wednesday for the removal of her tonsils at the Wells county hospital at Bluffton.

Rev. M. B. Graham and the Misses Ilow (sp?) Elzey, Bernice Graham and Helen Hoover were at Fremont this week attending the Epworth league convention of the Fort Wayne district held in Rev. L. W. Kemper's church.

Miss Grace Travis is spending this week in Vera Cruz, visiting in the home of her sister, Mrs. Rollin Heche.

C. D. Carr has returned home from a week's visit with his daughter, Mrs. Elwin Goshorn and family, of Huntington.

Mr. and Mrs. Marion Hoover and family visited Thursday with Mrs. Mattie Norton, of Poneto.

Mrs. Mary Wilson has as her guests her daughter, Mrs. Weyla Smith, her daughter, Jessie, and two sons, Cyrus and Harold, of Ashtabula, O.

Mrs. George Welsh, of Grover Hill, O., is visiting this week in the home of her son, Ray Welsh and family.

Mrs. Homer Ashcroft, daughter, Alda, and son, William, of Greenwood, Miss., have arrived in this community by Auto and are visiting among relatives. Mrs. Ashcroft is a sister of Mrs. Jesse Dailey.

Clarence Jackson, of the Propspect M. E. church, is at Croawfordsville, this week attending the state Sunday school convention.

Mrs. G. A. Morton has been in Fort Wayne this week helping care for her daughter, Mrs. Frank E. White, who recently submitted to an operation for the removal of tonsils and adenoids at the Lutheran hospital.

Miss Eleanor King, a teacher in the Cincinnati Art school has arrived here and will spendher summer vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. King.

Fay and Wanda Rector are spending this week at Warren visiting with Mr. and Mrs. T. V. Rector.

Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Glass celebrated their fifity-fifth wedding anniversary on Tuesday and had with them all the immediate members of their family as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Alvin M. Glass, of Chicago; Harry (Henry? poor copy) Glass, of Akron, O.; Victor Glass, of Cleveland, and Wayland Glass, of Arcola.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur F. Roe, of Auburn, spent Sunday in Ossian with their daughter, Mrs. Raymond Goshorn and went from here to Crawfordsville to visit with another daughter, Mrs. W. E. Hunter.
