Rachel Carnes was born March 4th, 1833, on what is known as the McKahan farm, Jefferson township, Guernsey county, Ohio, was married to James McKim on November 27, 185?, to them were born seven children, three of whom survive. She died July 16, 1906, aged 73. Aunt Rachel as she was called by everybody, was well known and respected by a large circle of friends. Her life was one of toils and trials. She with her husband was a charter member of the North Salem M. P. church. A few hours before she died she called her children and friends to her bedside and bid them all good-bye, told them to live a Christian life and meet her in heaven. The funeral took place on the 18th inst., conducted by her pastor, Rev Lucas assisted by Rev. Stuart of Kimbolton. Interment in Beil's cemetery.
