Will of Patrick Beard Deceased

I Patrick Beard of the County of Wayne and State of Indiana being weak in body but sound in mind memory and understanding thanks be to God for his mercies --- do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows viz. that after my decease I will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid and finally settled as soon thereafter as convenient. Secondly I have given unto my children Jane Hicks, John Beard and Hannah Cooke all the estate that I intend for them to have. My will is further that they enjoy the same and no more of my estate. Thirdly I will and bequeath to my three youngest sons viz. Abraham, Patrick and Woodard all the land that I possess to be equally divided as to number of acres between them so that my youngest son Woodard shall have the buildings and orchard included in his part. Provided however that he shall keep his three unmarried sisters viz. Alice Elizabeth and Rachel peaceably in the mansion house and shall maintain them on said farm until they are married, and afterwards that they shall have no further claim on my son Woodard. I likewise will and bequeath that my three youngest sons have all my farming utensils of every description equally divided amongst them. I further will unto my three youngest sons the horse Beasty that they now claim together with their saddles. Fourthly I will and bequeath to my three unmarried daughters viz. Alice, Elizabeth and Rachel to them and their heirs --- to Alice two beds and bedsteads with all the clothing thereunto belonging; to Elizabeth and Rachel to them and their heirs the beds bedsteads and bed clothing claimed by them. I further will and bequeath that my daughter Alice have one half of my household and kitchen furniture the balance to be divided equally between my two youngest daughters, viz. Elizabeth and Rachel. Each of my unmarried daughters are to keep the wheels that they claim. I further will that my daughter Alice have the mare that she now claims and her saddle and that Elizabeth have the Bay Filly from the before mentioned mare and that Rachel have the bay horse from the same mare and that each of my daughters when leaving the farm have one cow and five sheep. Fifthly my will is that as soon after my decease as convenient my executors shall make sale of all the balance of my property that has not been divided and the money arriving there from after paying my just debts then the balance of any there should be to be equally divided between my three youngest sons viz. Abraham, Patrick and Woodard. It is further my will that neither of my three daughters aforesaid shall keep more than two horses at the same time on the farm and they are to be subject to work for their own support. Furthermore my will is that all the money now on hand together with all the cash notes, Book accounts and all the debts that are due me in any way should be speedily collected and kept by my executors hereinafter for the purpose of paying my just debts after which I will that the balance should be divided between my three youngest sons viz. Abraham, Patrick and Woodard equally and lastly I hereby nominate and appoint my brother John Beard and my sons John Beard and Abraham Beard executors of this my last will and testament and by these presents do revoke anul and dissolve all other wills heretofore by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and thirty one.
