He died 18 November 1910 in Logansport, Cass County, Indiana.He married Elizabeth Ann Enyeart on 12 September 1891 in Wabash County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Levi Enyeart and Eunise Cordellia Saunders. Elizabeth was born 11 October 1866 in Indiana. She died after 1947. Hugh and Elizabeth had five known children: John H.; George; Florence Ethel; Walter Leonard and Levi W. In the 1900 and 1910 census, the family is living in Logansport, Cass County, Indiana.

Elizabeth Married John H. Clark on 15 October 1913 in Cass County, Indiana. In the 1920 census, they are living in Elkhart County, Indiana. In the 1930 census, they are in LaGrange County, Indiana.
