Looking for information on ELIJAH BENJAMIN, son of NATHAN and MARY BENJAMIN. Father Nathan lived with him in Wabash Co. Lagro Indiana when Nathan died in 1857. Have located him in 1840 census with persumably a wife and 1 daughter. Also found Wabash County Biography on "ISAAC DUFFEY married on April 17 1881 to MISS DELLA BENJAMIN daughter of SQUIRE E.W.BENJAMIN of LaGro." Would this be ELIJAH and why was he a squire?. Particularly interested in ELIJAH siblings names. Thanks Jackie in Canada

Hi!

I don't know if you have this information yet, but have just completed some research, including a visit to the Lagro Cemetary. Elijah Wilson Benjamin (7 Oct 1810-24 Aug 1887) married Elsie Jane Peeples (18 Nov 1821-8 Jul 1887) in 1836. Elijah and Elsie had 4 children that I have found thus far. Hugh A (b1848 d 1849) Elijah Wilson Jr (b1852-d1881) Hugh B (b 1856 d 1910) and C. E ( b1858).

The information I have, says Della was born on April 17, 1861, to Elijah Jr.

Elijah Sr's siblings are Rebecca, David, Elizabeth, Nancy, John, and Eliza

Of the Sr and Jr E. W.'s, Father went by Elijah, and son went by Wilson. Also, Elijah's father Nathan was a survivor of an Indian attack in 1778 in Pennsylvania, in which he witnessed his father killed by the Indians, and spent several years captive.

I have a lot of other Benjamin info, and am closely related to Benjamins in Nova Scotia and New Hampshire. Send me a message if you have any other info!

Good luck!
Craig
