You might be interested in looking at the old map of Somerset that is in the "Illustrated Historic Atlas of Wabash County, Indiana, 1875", page 58. I am pretty sure they have a copy of this book at the Carnegie Library in Wabash, but it might be available at the libraries in Marion or Peru, too. My old house is the one at the NW corner of Walnut and Water Streets on the map, just as you come into town, the way you have to enter now. The business district was on Water Street between Jefferson and Madison. You can see the bridge at Madison. The school I attended was on Main Street between Jefferson and Madison. If you make a photocopy of the map, you will be able to get your bearings better the next time you walk around the town. My grandfather and great-grandfather had a farm just across the bridge and to the west; my dad farmed it after his dad died until the dam was built, although we never lived there. Happy hunting!
