On a Bio about Richard Towner, info states that his parents,
Elijah Towner,Jr, b. 1792 in New York married to Phoebe
Hicks, b. 1796 in PA. They moved from N.Y. to Indiana in
1819 and engaged in farming. Richard was born in Vigo Co.
on Oct. 31, 1822. His sister, Olive was born in 1824.
Elijah died in 1831 and wife, Phoebe died in 1837. Olive
must have been sent to a relative since she was only 13.
I am trying to find who raised her. I know Richard was
employed in Danville, IL in 1837 and Champaign Co, IL. by 1838.
I would also be interested in finding where in N.Y. the Hicks family originated. I doesn't appear that they took
her in. There must have been other siblings. Please contact
