HARRISON CAMPBELL: The subject of this brief record was born in Tippecanoe county, Ind., June 23, 1840, and was a son of JAMES CAMPBELL who was born in 1813 and is still living and SUSAN (BUNN) who has gone to her reward. When the war broke out he was employed as a farmer and in response to the first call for three years' volunteers to serve in the overthrow of the secession movement, he enlisted July, 1861, at Clarks Hill, Ind., when 21 years of age. He joined Co. G, 26th Ind. V. I., 3d Brig., 2d Div., 13th A. C. He was promoted to Corp., and so served with his command in the following battles: Prairie Grove, Champion Hill, Black River, Siege of Vicksburg, Mobile, Spanish Fort and numerous skirmishes. In June, 1863, he received an injury to back during the siege of Vicksburg, from the weight of a heavy gun; he was honorably discharged Jan. 1, 1864, at Brownsville, Tex., and re-enlisted the following day as a veteran, thus obtaining a veteran's furlough of thirty days; he was not finally released from service until January, 1866, when he was granted an honorable discharge at Indianapolis, Ind. His brother, WILLIAM W., served in the late war and was a member of 15th Ind. V. I. Comrade CAMPBELL is a member of George Wright Post, 385, he is at present engaged in farming and his address is Kirkpatrick, Ind.
