OWEN BIERY: DAVID and MARY A. (PAUL) BIERY, both deceased, are the parents of the subject of this sketch who was born in Lehigh county, Pa., March 27, 1841. His wife is SUSAN E. BOLYARD, daughter of JOHN and HANNAH (RICKESTINE) BOLYARD, deceased. She was born in Butler county, Ohio, January 14, 1847, and they were married July 25, 1863. One child was the issue of this union, JOHN D. Comrade BIERY was engaged in farming when Pres. Lincoln issued a call for volunteers to defend the Union. He enlisted at LaFayette, Ind., Jan. 28, 1865, in Co. B, 150th Ind. V. I. Owing to the close of the war soon after his enlistment, he was not called into active service but was employed mostly in guard duty at Stevenson Station, Winchester and Harpers Ferry. April 1, 1865, he was stricken with a cold which settled on his lungs resulting in asthma from which he still suffers. He was honorably discharged August, 1865, at Stevenson, Va. Comrade BIERY is a charter member of Elliott Post, 160, he is a barber, is in receipt of a pension and he may be addressed at Dayton, Ind.
