JAMES ALLBURN: A native of Indiana, was born Apri1 9, 1836, and was a son of GEORGE and JANE (HAYES) ALLBURN, neither of whom are living. The maiden name of his wife, to whom he was married in Tippecanoe county, Ind., March 29, 1858, was HANNAH J. PATTERSON. She was born in Ohio March 7, 1839, of parents, JOHN and CATHERINE (COON) PATTERSON, both long ago deceased. To this marriage were given six children, born in the order here given: JASPER E., WILLIAM A., JOHN W., GEORGE N., CORA M. AND ALARIC T., the latter being deceased. Comrade ALLBURN'S army life dates from October, 1863, when, at the age of 28 years, he was enrolled at LaFayette, lnd., as a private in Co. C, 72d Mtd. Ind., 3d Brig., 14th A. C. He had previously been engaged in farming. In July, 1865, he was transferred at Chattanooga, Tenn., to Co. D, 44th Ind. V. I., serving with that Regt., until granted an honorable discharge Sept. 19, 1865, at Nashville, Tenn., having taken part in the battles of Mussell Shoales, Buzzard Roost, Kenesaw Mt., Rosswell, Atlanta, Jonesboro, Rossville, Chickamauga, Selma, Columbus, Macon and Big Shanty, besides numerous skirmishes. His brother, GEORGE belonged to 16th Ind. Bat., also to 116th Regt. His wife had two brothers in the service, JOHN in Co. C, 72d Ind. V. I., and ELLZEY in 116th Ind. Regt. and 16th Ind. Bat. Our subject's grandfather, FREDERICK ALLBURN served in the Revolutionary war. Comrade ALLBURN is a member of Waymire Post, 496, he is at present engaged in farming and his address is Buck Creek, Ind.
