MARTIN W. HOWARD, resides on section 8, Lauramie Township, where he has a good farm of eighty acres. He was born in Ross County, Ohio, March 16, 1837, a son of WILLIAM M. HOWARD. The father removed with his family to Clinton County, Indiana, in the fall of 1837, and in the spring of 1838 came to Tippecanoe County, living one year in Sheffield Township. He settled in Lauramie Township, in 1839, where he made his home unitl his death, which occurred several years ago.

MARTIN W. was reared on the home farm in Lauramie Township, and educated in the common schools of his neighborhood. He has always followed agricultural pursuits. He was married February 16, 1865, to FANNIE A. STARKEY, of Clinton County, her father, JOHN STARKEY, still living in that county. He was born January 1, 1800.

Of the seven children born to MR. and MRS. HOWARD, five are living--ALTA F., ALBERT L., HATTIE E., C. BLANCHE and MINIE E.

In politics MR. HOWARD is a Republican. Both he and his wife are members of the Methodist Episcopal church of Stockwell in which he is a class leader.
