ROBERT BOWLES, a successful and enterprising agriculturist of Lauramie Township, engaged in farming and stock-raising on section 15, was born in Kent County, England, the date of his birth being October 30, 1818. His father, ROBERT BOWLES, who was also born in Kent County, England, immigrated to the United States with his family in 1822, and settled in Hamilton County, Ohio, where his death occurred in 1864.
ROBERT BOWLES, the subject of this sketch, was reared to the vocation of a farmer on the home farm, and was educated at home under the preceptorship of his father. He came to Tippecanoe in 1842, when he settled on his present farm, and by industry combined with good management he has accumulated a fine property consisting of 450 acres of valuable land. MR. BOWLES has been twice married, his first marriage taking place in January, 1846, with MISS GINEY BUCKLEY, a daughter of JAMES BUCKLEY, deceased. To this union six children were born, their names being as follows--ELECTA, DELIA, TIFFANY, RICHARD, JOHN and EDWIN. MRS. BOWLES died in April, 1865, and in the year 1867 MR. BOWLES was again united in marriage to MRS. VIRGINIA LOWE, a daughter of GEORGE HICKS, and to them have been born two children named ISADORA and MARY.
