My interest is in the Pelser Family. I had received information about Margaret's maiden name and her children with Joseph. I would be interested in any info on Simon Peter Pelser, the son of William Pelser and Margaret Daugherty. Also the parents of Margaret. My wife's line runs back to the Pelsers of Switzerland Co, Ind., although there was another Pelser family about two Counties north which I believe are related.

Dear Fred, I am Joseph P. Culp and Margaret Daugherty Culp's great- great granddaughter. My line is from their son Francis Marion, through his son Asa A. Culp born in 1866, to my father Cyril R. Culp born in 1902. I have been busy looking up other lines of my family and never found much on the Culp's until I tried "Message Boards." I have a written history made up for a 1936 reunion. It tells that Joseph P. was a river boat captain on the Ohio River between Memphis and New Orleans. I would be delighted to share information with you about the family. Carol Culp Robinson

Info. from Meredith Tonnesen -- mtonnesen@mindspring.com

Joseph was a river pilot who died of cholers in Oct. of 1849 at age 45. Shown in Indiana Mortality Schedule in the 1850 Census.

I don't know if that will help any, but you might try the two ladies shown. don read

If I did not answer you before, i am about 10 years late. I believe that Margaret Daugherty's husband was Joseph D. Culp the Indiana river boat captain who died of yellow fever. I have in my records that she married Mr. Pelser. However, it was not very long before she two died. the children you mentioned were all of the first marriage.
