Yes. I have all that info. :) The question is his birth date. You know, some say it was one year, some say it was another. Even the place of birth was in question, but I would say it was Terra Coupe, IN. When I noticed that the family lived in MI in 1870, that made it seem more likely.

Delphis Phillip MEAR was born 19 May 1870, according to his death cert, which of course, could be incorrect. However, I found the family in the 1870 census with Delphis' age given as 1 year. Since we don't know who talked to the census taker, this could also be wrong. A baptism record would hopefully resolve this question.

For a family inTerre Coupe in 1869 the only alternative would be St Patricks or St hedwig in South Bend .... or a long shot St Marys in Otis In , Laporte County ....St Stanislaus Kosta had a mission in the 1880's but no standing church until the 1890's ...

For a family living in the Terra Coupe area in about 1869, what Catholic Church would the children have been baptized at? I found the family in Galien, Berrien, Michigan in the 1870 census, but the family information I have said my ancestor was born in Terra Coupe, IN. I realize that Terra Coupe is near the border.

I have the same identical plate. I thought only one had been made but now I know at least two were produced. I have had my plate about 40 years and purchased it from an antique
shop.
I found these 2 children on the 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930 &
1940 Federal Censuses on Ancestry.com. I learned the same
death date for John but have not learned the death date for
Sarah/Sara. She is on the 1940 census married to a Wm. Clanson. Sarah/Sara was born about 1909.
This looks like a souvenir plate. The background appears to be a decal applied. I believe the faces might have been
been hand-painted.

Thank you for your reply...all of you! Actually, not long after this first post, I found David's phone number and left a message-- he gave my number to Jack (this was shortly after my own dad died Dec 26, 2006). Jack called me and we spoke for some time about all the "memories"...I let him know of my dad's passing. Your dad, Jack filled me in on some things and I told him I have a photo of him (Jack) holding me--I was a baby-- and I believe it's taken at Grandpa and Grandma Witucki's home? I'd love to hear from you. I send Barbara Christmas cards every since I found them, and she sent me the announcement about Jack, which I was sorry to hear... I wish I'd known him sooner! That generation didn't travel far to see relatives...(at least my dad didn't). You must be into genealogy? Let's talk psstephens@aol.com (I can send you my phone#) I am doing a women's retreat in Michigan in September this year (MiracleCamp in Lawton, MI)--I am their speaker.

I'm not sure who you are, I'm guessing maybe my dad's cousin Junior's daughter? (Btw, it's Eleanor :-) I see your entry is dated 2007- my dad died in 2009. Here's the obit. Please get in touch with me, I'd love to hear about your dad - memories, and what you know of things they did as boys! :-)
http://www.carlislefuneralhome.net/fh/obituaries/obituary.cf...

Curtis E. Walters and Sylvia Walters obituaries were in the Elkhart Truth 1 May 1953 Page 1. The index at the Elkhart Library list Curtis' birth as 1881, death 30 Apr 1953, and Sylvia's birth as 20 Oct 1881 and death as 30 Apr 1953. I am sure if you contact the Elkhart Library they can send you copies of the obituaries.

Linda Braden Gray

Im looking for information on the deaths of CURTISS EDWARD WALTERS and his wife SYLVIA WALTERS. Online trees suggest they both died on the same day, 30 APRIL 1953, perhaps in St. Joseph County. Did they both actually die on the same day or are the online trees in error. Can anyone tell me the circumstances of their deaths. It was the second marriage for both. Sylvia was born SYLVIA CUNNINGHAM in Elkhart County; her first married name was SYLVIA SNYDER. They lived for some time in MISHAWAKA, Indiana.
