Can anyone help with finding a cemetery plot location for Ida Cassell? She died in 1904 and was buried in the Pleasant Lake Cemetery per the death record on file at the Steuben County Records Bldg. We walked the cemetery twice but could not find a marker for her. We think the grave is either unmarked or has dinintegrated. If we knew the plot location we could order a new headstone for her. She was my Great-Grandmother and the mother of Lee Stanley Cassell (for whom the Fremont VFW Hall is named). Thanks for any help.

In 1964 we were traveling in Texas, stayed at a Holiday Inn in San Antonio, the receptionest at the desk when she saw where we were from remarked that her husband was Lee Stanley Cassell and the Legion was named for him in Indiana. Who was Lee Stanley Cassell's wife ?

Lee Stanley Cassell was my paternal great-uncle (my Dad's mothers brother). To the best of my knowledge he was not married. He was killed on Nov. 4, 1918, in WWI in France. He was originally buried in France but was brought home and reburied in the Old Cemetery in Fremont, Indiana, next to his father. His sister (my grandmother) moved to Texas in the late 40's/early 50's and died in Texas around 1968 (San Marcos?) The American Legion Post in Fremont is named after him. He was an Army LT (Medical Corps). After medical school he moved to Sweet Grass, Montana, which is where he was living when he was drafted. I have his WWI field medical kit. I am wondering if the woman you spoke with was his sister, my grandmother??

That could be very true that it was your grandmother that we talked to in Texas, whoever the lady was, she brought up the subject of the American Legion Post being named for Lee Stanley Cassell. If you are wondering what brought up the subject of Lee Cassell. The Fremont Historical Society sponsered a cemetery walk in the Old Cemetery yesterday and the grave of Lee Cassell was stop #13.It was mentioned that Mr. Cassell never married, hence this quest to find just who the lady was in Texas so many years ago.
Thank you for the information
