Hello Fellow Researchers,

Does Spencer County have death records from 1904, and, if so, would the record contain the maiden name of the deceased person's mother?

I'm interested in finding some document that would have the maiden name of the mother of my ancestress, who immigrated from Alsace to Indiana. As far as I know, her parents never came to this country.

She belonged to St. Meinrad Parish at the time of her death. I have already contacted them, but they could give me no information other than the date of her death.

Does anyone know of any record that might show her mother's maiden name? Undertaker's records might if they exist, but I don't know who the undertaker was.

Thank you,

Carol

He also lived in Fulda and perhaps Ireland. He was married 3 times. Our great great grandmother was Genovefa Jerger Jacob who died in Fulda, IN in 1854, Is there a cemetery record for them? I am just starting so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Marilyn
Hello,
I’ve been trying for years to find out something about my ggg grandmother, Sarah Mariah Skelton. In 1870 she and her sister are living with Robert Irvin Skelton and his wife Mahala but the girls are not his kids. I’ve never been able to find out who her parents were. Yesterday I received information that Zachariah Skelton enlisted in Company F, 120th Indiana Infantry at Rockport during the Civil War and died in Nashville, TN in 1864. His wife died soon after and a minor child pension application was apparently filed for and the note said that Robert Skelton was the guardian. So basically I’m trying to confirm that the girls belonged to Zachariah and his wife Mariah (Zachariah was Robert’s brother and Mariah was Mahala’s sister). I would appreciate any information anyone might have to support or deny this.
I am looking for advice on how I might try to find a cemetery record for my 2nd great grandfather's first wife. Her name at the time of death was Elizabeth McCanless (Could also be spelled other ways, McCandlis, McCanlas, etc)She died in Luce Township, Spencer County around September of 1861. I would also be grateful for any advice on searching old Spencer County records for more information about her. Elizabeth was most likely the daughter of Berry and Mary Roach. She was first married to a man with the last name of May, probably around 1842. They had 2 children, John and Mary May. After marrying John McCanless, they had one daughter, Lena Anne. I have only found limited census information, and little else. Since I am in California, any lookup help, or advice about hiring a researcher would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Steve McBride

I find this intrigueing. My name is David F. Spencer. My family on both sides are from the Black Swamp area. Fayette, Oh. Morenci, Mi., Lauber Hill, Oh. (the original settlers of the Black swamp). There was a Bert Spencer in Morenci, my great grandfather who may be related to this Albert Spencer. There are many many Spencers buried in the Morenci Michigan City Cemetary which is in Senneca County I believe. This is a very interesting read.

Hi Roger,
I am taking a chance you will answer this email. I am looking for information on Harold Sloan Criswell son of Reid Criswell. Reid is my grandfather. In 2006 I came across a picture that looked like my brother only it is old. I finally got it identified to be Reid and I am assuming a brother. Mom always said my brother looked like the Criswell's. Mom (Delia Ethel Marie Criswell) died in 1954 and I didn't even hear Reid's name that I remember until 1959. I have a picture that I am guessing is Elizabeth Bolejack but I can't find anyone that would know. I am asking for your help in locating the family you know about.
Thank you,
Sandy

I believe the picture was taken in the 20's and she looks to be a brunette with brown eyes.
There will be no charge to the family.

I can only go as far back as Ford. That is why I went to Charleston, I was not sure that his father's name was John, but I did not find any references in S. Carolina to a Ford Wilkinson. I do have some letters from S. Carolina to the Indiana Wilkinsons by uncles and cousins then living in S. Carolina (around Agusta, Ga.) Something like taking Uncle Fords girls to a hop. My e-mail is Robrtz1@juno.com it might be easier to get me there. They had some family move to Kansas I believe. I also got some information from a trip to Spencer County you might find interesting, you will have to give me some time to put it together and see what I have. I have not subscribed to Ancestry.com I will check with a friend to see if it is worth it.

I have seen both spellings on Missouri and probably have some more information on that. I have her father, Ford Wilkinson, coming to Indiana from South Carolina, just north of Augusta, Georgia about 1805. He left some relatives in South Carolina. But I could not find any information before that.
