I guess she was referring to Grandview, Indiana, which is in southern Indiana

sorry,perhaps i didn't make myself clear enough. she went to school their from about 19115/15 to the time she entered high school,and she graduated h.g. in 1926.she was born and raised in grandview,in. i have been there manytimes,and wanted to know where the school was located,like the spot where it was, road ,street or etc.?she said the name was "GRADE SCHOOL" NO OTHER NAME. PERHAPS I MAY NEED TO GO TO THE COURT HOUSE TO FIND THIS OUT? figured it was perhaps in grandview someplace, BUT WHERE? ALL HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED,MANY THANKS

You should be able to get all the information you need about Spencer County, IN - and Grandview, IN school - if you will google USGenWeb.org. When you get there, look to top left, click on State, then click on Spencer County and ask at the library or genealogical society website. The library's mailing address at Rockport is: Spencer County Public Library, 210 Walnut St., Rockport IN 47635 or telephone 812 649-4018. Ask for history and genealogy department. I'll bet they can find out for you. They also have a Spencer County Historical Society, and I'm sure they could find this for you in their files. Or, they will know who and where to ask. JB

According to the 1927 Sanborn Fire map of Grandview, the public school was located at the southeast corner of South St. and Church St. Church St. is 2 blocks west of Main St.

The building burned in 1943 and according to an article, it was only called Grandview school or "old building". The map showed it only as "public school." The school was 75 years old when it burned.

THE GRANDVIEW HIGH SCHOOL WAS WHAT BURNT , THE ELEMENTRY SCHOOL I'M CONCERNED ABOUT. SEEMS THERE'S NO INFO ON THAT GRADE SCHOOL.

According to the article, this was also the old grade school and later held all classes there.
