Hi Ginny,
The obit I got was from an Indiana state librarian who emailed me with the details: Sarah Doolittle died at the home of her daughter Sarah E. Gordon (perhaps either the obit or the librarian omitted the surname Sweet.) The elder Sarah died in January 1889 and from the 1880 census we know that she was living in Rushville with Sarah and Mordecai Sweet and Sarah's 2 sons Albert and Frank Gordon.
The obit said she died in Rushville and was buried in the Blue River Baptist cemetery. On rootsweb message boards I learned that there is a Little Blue River Baptist Church est. in 1828 in Shelby COunty, 7 miles NE of Shelbyville, and a Little Blue River Friends Cemetery 3 miles NE of Manila in Rush County (church may be in Rush County but the cemetery may be in Shelby County), and a Little Blue River Wesleyan Cemetery near the Friends cemetery AND a Little Blue River Baptist cemetery in northern Rush County 1/2 mile west of State Road 3, northeast of the town of Sexton.
I have emailed a lookup volunteer to help sort this out but someone posted that the Baptist church burned in 1923 so no early records and that many of the stones are eroded so if Joel is there, we may never know.
