Range 10 E in 1837 Ripley County, Ind.
Why are sections 19,30 & 31 of Township 6 Range 10east in Jennings County instead of Ripley County in this current plat map? Were there changes in Jennings Co. and Ripley Co. after 1837? I am in need of help in understanding just where my ancestor's land was located. Thanks for any help. ER

And the city where Henry and Dora came from. Beyond that I know nothing of the Stadtlander family.
Best regards, Matthew Nolting, Tampa

Denise,

William Merrick and Mary N. Funkhouser were my GGGG Grandparents. Their daughter Jennie, born in 1869 right before her mother Mary passed away, was my GGG Grandma. Jennie G. Merrick married Willaim Moses Rice, and their daughter Nellie Rosetta Rice was my GG Grandmother. Nellie married Charles John Stauffer, and their daughter Inace Jenny Stauffer was my Great Grandma. Anyways, that is my connection. I am working on researching the Merrick/Funkhouser family right now, but I would be glad to share what I have with you. This family moved around some, and in fact were found in two different censuses in 1850, one in Jackson, Ripley, Indiana with Mary Funkhouser's family, and one in Aurora, Dearborn, Indiana with who I am assuming were William Merrick's parents and siblings. (I still need to check on that) I know some of William and Mary's children were born in Indiana, some were born in Iowa, and some were born in Illinois. Like I said, I am still working on this family, but I would love to collaborate and share what I have!

Phebe Burns, Almira Picket and Ashours Picket are on the 1856 StatE Census of Iowa in Des Moines Township, Lee County. I am looking for any information I can find out about them or the other Picket children with them. I believe Almira is the Almira Burns who married James Picket 1838 in Ripley Co, In. She is not there in 1850 but is back there by herself in 1860. Ashours was born in Iowa in 1848. Did James Picket die in Lee Co c 1850s? Amira appears to be the daughter of Thomas and Catherine Burns who disappear after the late 1840s in Ripley Co. Did Catherine die and Thomas marry this Phebe? She shows up back in Ripley Co in 1860 with children Virgil and Resaurs (too young to be hers) but no husband. Did Thomas die in Lee Co? Does anyone have any information on any of these names?

Christine. Not related, just trying to help. This was a hard one. In the 1860 census for Ripley county, Adams township, page 64, the family is listed as Dalkenberg, and is headed by Frederick, 38, a merchant, born in Saxony (Germany), and included Rosa, 31, born in Baden (Germany), and Anistina, 2, born in Ind. In 1870 the family is in Ripley county, Laughery township, page 31, and is headed by Fred Falkenberg, 50, merchant, Prussia, and included Rose, 40, keeping house, Baden, and the following children all born in Ind, Christine, 12, - Mary, 9, - John C, 7, and Ellen, 1. In the 1880 census the family is still in Laughery township, Dist 158, page 18, and is headed by Fred Falkenberg, 60, merchant, Saxony, and included his wife Rosa, keeping house, Baden, - his daughter Enistina J, 23, Ind, - his son John C Fremont (2 middle names), 17, Ind, - his daughter Mary M, 19, Ind, and his daughter Alla, 11, Ind. Hope this helps. Don
Suzy, I'm not sure who would have the originals, but Gary's suggestion would be a very good one. The exact copy you included with your message is from the Ripley County History book, Vol 1 and it doesn't give any credits to the subbmission.(and you may already know that.) Another avenue may be to contact a Ruth Dorrell or Owen Menchhofer, to see if they have any information (Florence Thackery m James Dorrell--which would be their connection).

There is a book on the Thackery family in the Historical Archives at Versailles, IN written by a Dean J. Thackery whose address was 121 Breakellia St, San Diego, CA 92129. I didn't check dates--or at least write them down so don't know how accurate that information is now. I don't remember any pictures in it.

If I come across any other info, will let you know. Mona

I am researching the Conn family from Ripley County, Brown township, Indiana from 1800 to 1870. Specifically looking at Jane Conn, her husband J (Joshua?) Conn, and daugher Nancy Agness Conn. See details below. These Conns were born in Ireland; Jane and Nancy Agnes emigrated to the USDA in 1811. All are buried at the Blair Cemetery in Ripley County. Please contact me if you see a connection and have data to share. Thanks, Michael

Jane (maiden name unknown) Conn was born circa 1743 in Ireland; came to the USA in 1811 with her daughter and husband. Husband's first name started with a "J"; might be Joshua. Jane Conn died 7 July 1836.

Nancy Agnes Conn (born circa 1788 in Ireland) married Richard Emerson Blair (born c. 1789 in Ireland); Nancy died 11 Oct 1864.
I know this post is 10 years old, but I'm researching the Schulenburg, Ellerman and Aufderheide families that went to church at St. John's Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat, Dearborn Co., Indiana and lived in Ripley Co. IN. I would love to compare trees with anyone else that has info on these families.
