Please omit the Robert Myers a son of John & Elizabeth Myers of Licking County, Ohio.

This is ERROR for the parents of Robert C. Myers living 1900 Blackford County, Indiana, for his birth stated on this census was March 1847 Ohio and parents born in Ohio. With this information I was worked with and it is proven wrong and I'm sorry.

I found 1930 Randolph County, Indiana, West River Township, May 1, in Trenton, H/H# 274-280 Robert Myers 69 (b1861) Ohio and both parents born Ohio, with wife Loula 64 (b1866) born KY and both parents born KY. I know this is another wife at this time. I found marriage Robert C. Myers to Lola M. Bousdew 4-1-1905 Delaware County, Indiana, Book C-15, page 579. All day today I have worked on Myers families with variable spellings in Ohio and in Indiana.

Since the son of Robert C. Myers named Fred Cetinas Myers states his father Robert Myers lives 6-5-1918 in Bluffton, Indiana which is Wells County then his family may be there or even be the place of his birth. I couldn't find him on the 1920 cenus there.

1880 Wells County, Indiana, Harrison Twp, June 30, H/H#342-350 Henry Myers 47, Elizabeth 41, ROBERT 17 (b1863), Frederic 14, Edward 11, Harman 6 and Lydia 1. By 1900 there is no Robert Myers in Wells County, Indiana; therefore, he may be Robert C. Myers living 1900 Blackford County, Indiana.

I know Blackford County, Indiana was formed 2-15-1838 from Jay County, Indiana. Jay County was formed 2-7-1835 from Delaware and Randolph Counties. Delaware County formed 1-26-1827 from Randolph County.

Thanks, Glenda

I have an ancestor Catherine Myers born 1786 N.C. and married Jacob Martin both died McMinnville, Warren County, Tennesse and she was aged 104 years. I have worked all day and enjoyed putting together all your family histories.

Yes, the WWI Draft Reg. Cards of Delaware County, Indiana, has Jacob E. Myers born 2-16-1892 Blackford County, Indiana. Also listed there is his brother William Bazzle Myers born 9-12-1888 Blackford Co, Indiana.

Then another brother is on WWI Draft Reg. Cards, 1917-1918 Madison County, Indiana, Fred Cetinas Myers born 12-26-1896 Hartford City, Indiana (is Blackford County) and he states father born in Ohio and names FATHER - ROBERT MYERS living 1210S. Johnson St. Bluffton, Indiana (is Wells County). I believe the obit is correct and your Jacob wasn't adopted after all.

Proof is 1900 Blackford County, Indiana, Washington Township, June 18, H/H# 121-131 / 122-129 Robert Myers born March 1847, 53, md 14 years (1886) Oil Pumper, Owns MF, Ohio and parents born Ohio, wife Herrenah born July 1864, 35, Indiana father PA and mother born Ohio, son William born Sept. 1889, 12, Indiana, son JAKE born Feb 1891, 9 Indiana, son Frederick born Dec 1896, 3 Indiana, daughter E. Marie born April 1899, 1 Indiana. 1910 Randolph County, Indiana, Stoney Creek Twp, May 3, H/H# 233-234 Francis Clevenger, f/w, 46 WD, born Indiana and parents born Indiana, Owns land, lives on Own Income, son-in-law JACOB MYERS 19 (b1891) Indiana and parents born Indiana, wife Flossie is her daughter, son Ralph Clevenger 15, daug. Eva Clevenger 13, son Harold Clevenger 7 all born Indiana. 1920 Delaware County, Indiana, Liberty Twp, Jan 20, H/H# 102-102 Jacob E. Myers 28, Farmer, wife Flossie C. 27, Hellen I. 7, Kennth W. 6, George W. 4 4/12, Dorthy L. 2 8/12 all born Indiana and both parents born Indiana. 1930 Delaware County, Indiana, Libert Twp, April 4, living on Rail Road Street Selma, H/H# 3-3 Flossie C. Myers 37 WD, Helen I. 17, Keneth W. 16, George W. 14, Dorothy L. 12, LEROY W. 9 (b1911) all born Indiana and parents. I found marriage ROBERT C. MEYERS to ACENIAH H. PIERSON 8-20-1885 Blackford County, Indiana by Alvin N. Morris, Justice of Peace. Robert is son of John & Elizabeth Myers of Union Township, Licking County, Ohio as proof 1850 & 1860 Licking Co, Ohio Census. Spelling of John Myers was Myres. Living there also in 1850 Licking County, Ohio, Union Township is John Myers's father John Myres (Myers) age 79 Maryland (born 1771) and wife Mary age 69 New Jersey (born 1781). On U. S. Land is John Myers document 1087, got 80 acres on 7-1-1829 Section 15, Township 1-North, Range 15 West, as U. S. Military Survey in Licking County, Ohio.

I also found the marriage of Flossie Clevenger Myers parents. WICK CLEVENGER to FRANCES DUNCAN 4-29-1891 Delaware County, Indiana. His name was Wickliff Clevenger and his parents marriage I found also. JONATHAN CLEVENGER to EVE FETTERS 6-17-1843 Delaware County, Indiana.

My husband's family on his mother's Yarger side is of Licking County, Ohio then to Putnam County, Ohio.
It is a long shot that I will get a response to this message! I recently started tracing back Edger family line. I am a descendant of John William Edger of Ky. He was my great grandfather. I have some documentation and historical facts on Edward Edger as well. I cannot figure out exactly how he fits into my family...other than he was my mothers great great uncle???? My mother was the daughter of John Thomas Edger, the granddaughter of John William Edger.
I pray i get feedback from the Sowders. I actually recall visiting Oscar and Sallie Kate Sowders as a child.

I still don't have a firm date of death for Thornton. The only facts I've found on him come from his second marriage record in 1860 Raleigh Co. (West) Virginia to Mary Ann Williams, on which he stated he was born in 1796 in Culpeper Co. VA. I have tracked him on the 1820, 1830, 1840 and 1860 censuses. I have been unable to find him on the 1850 or 1870 censuses.

We went to the LDS library in Salt Lake City earlier this year and my husband Rick checked on the tax and land records for Fayette and Kanawha Counties. Thornton paid taxes in Fayette Co. through the late 1840's. He purchased a farm in Kanawha County, and began paying taxes there in the early 1850's if memory serves me correctly. That would make it appear that he moved around 1849 or 1850. It is possible he left Fayette Co. before the census was taken of his area, and arrived in Kanawha after it had been taken, and so he was missed on the 1850 census. The fact that he isn't found on the 1870 census leads me to believe he died in the 1860's. His last known address was Fayette Co.
Hi Rick,

My name is Jennifer Rice, I was born and raised in Union City. In high school (1972-76) I worked in what had been the Stewart drugstore, though it had traded hands a few times and was called The Apothecary Shoppe when I was there. It was still a drugstore, owned by Dick Shirk and Walter Happ.

Prior to that it was Wooters Drug Store, owned by Tommy Wooters, which it was when I was a kid in the 60's. Still had a soda fountain and long counter with bar stools just inside the door, along the left wall.

I worked at the Apothecary Shoppe all through high school. It remained in business for several more years, and was sold to a young man who was a friend of mine and co-worker when we were working there. His name is Gregg Pierce, and he went to Pharmacy School and came back to buy the place.

The business changed names again after that, and eventually moved to another location. The building itself now remains empty, and Union City is suffering economically.

The downtown of Union City has basically a main street (Columbia) with a crossing street at each end that houses most of the businesses. The Stewart drugstore was at the south end of Columbia, on the corner of Columbia and Pearl Street, near the railroad tracks. It is a distinctive 2-story (or is it 3?) building and easy to pick out in old photos because it sits on the corner, and the top section of the corner is a round turret. I think it's a very handsome brick building, though in the last few years it has been painted a nasty blue.

I have several photos of the building, some of which are when it was Stewarts, and you can read the sign. I even have a picture of the inside, with the fancy-dressed patrons. I recognize the inside quite well.

Many years ago, when Union City was fairly new, that building was the post office for the town. I have a picture of a horse and cart waiting at the back door (which was sealed up when I worked there).

I'd be glad to share some photos. You can email me privately at Sisterrice@earthlink.net I'll watch for you in my spam filter, so disregard any messages you may receive.

Jenn

Hello Fred,
Thank you SO much for your reply. Yes, you are correct, Weymouth and Fanny Davis had a son, Thomas who left NC (at the age of 14) and traveled to Bedford County, TN. He is one of my direct ancestors. We are very sure Weymouth and Fanny did not move to TN. We have extensive records of the Davis family starting with Thomas Washington Davis. We also have pictures.

It's very strange. It's like they fell off the face of the earth. I fond this 1850 Randolph county census record on the BTU family site. I am almost positive this is "our" Weymouth and Fanny Davis in the 1850 Census....Randolph, Indiana.

http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=reco...

Frederick, how far back have you traced your roots. Do they go back to: Frederick B. Davis Birth: 22 Sep. 1748 in Pasquotank County NC * Death 17 Oct. 1831 in Williamson County, Tennessee?

We believe Weymouth is related to this Frederick. He named one of his sons, "Frederick". The ages are in sync.

I am crossing all of my fingers hoping... you may be part of our missing link. If you aren't....I am very glad to meet you. :) Thahks again!

Kind regards,
Claudia Randolph

My family (plus many other "Davis" families) has been searching for information on: Weymouth and Fanny Greaves,Davis.

I was thrilled and surprised to locate Weymohth and Fanny Davis in the 1850 Census of Greensfork township, Randolph County, Indiana. The majority of the Davis clan (including one of his sons) settled in TN.

It lists:

Weymouth Davis : 68 Farmer
Fanny Davis: 70
Lydia Davis: 40
All born in NC

Living close:
Fredrick Davis 32 M born in NC
Abigal Davis: 29
Rebecca Davis 2

While searching in Indiana, I located more "Weymouth" plus "Fredrick" Davises.

Our family trees have hit a brick wall after Weymouth Davis. Weymouth was born: 1780 in Pasquotank, North Carolina. We believe he may be the son of Frederick B Davis 1748 – 1831.

We are hoping to find some type of record that has Weymouth's father and mother named.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Claudia,
Lexington, KY

I have a son named Frederick D and a Grandson named Frederek L davis.
I have been researching the Davis clan for some time now, but have not run into anyone named Waymouth or Waymanth Davis.
I looked on Ancestry.com and found his name on 1850 census also and then found he was married to Fanny Greaves on 3-6-1804. They had a son named Thomas Washington Davis 1810-1884. Did not find a DOD.
This was a large family according to Ancestry.
It looked like most settled in TN or KY.
Hope this helps.
Feel free to contact me.

Fred Davis

Have either of you contacted the museum to look for any burials for them in this township or nearby Washington or Wayne Township. I also would look for any Friends (Quaker) Records for them in NC and also here. There would be a strong clue to follow with them coming from NC. I would also seek out wills and probate records and also land records. See if one of the kids either inhierited or purchased the land that Weymount and Fanny had, if they had a morgage on the property. This info would be at the court house. In the records office and also in the clerks office.
Court House is at 100 S. Main Street, Winchester, Indiana.
www.randolphcountyindianahistoricalsociety.org
Andrea

I wonder if you could find any info on the buisness in the Recorders office. That's where you are suppose to go to register (record) your buisness when you start one. It's in the court house. You might want to do that soon. The court house is getting ready for a facelift, many of the records are going to be moved to another building on the square while the work is done, it might be a mess trying to figure out where things are at first for the court house staff.
Andrea

Thought I would try again to look for information on the JOHN GALBREATH -b:May 13, 1831 in the state of VA or PA and who married in Randolph Co., IN on May 20, 1852 (by Jacob Eltgroth / JP) to Nancy Ann Driver -b: Sept 20, 1830. Nancy Ann Driver was a daughter of James and Sarah (Rhody) Driver.

John GALBREATH was listed on 1870 Jefferson Co., Nebraska census record as a Retail Dry Goods Merchant and on the 1880
Jewell Co, Kansas as a Farmer.

John Galbreah is said to have had a partner in his Dry Goods Business. Looking for a list of names of early 1850's businesses in the Farmland or Winchester area.

This John and Nancy (Driver) Galbreath were in Missouri by 1857 then on to Iowa in 1861 and in Nebraska by 1869 and Kansas in 1878 where John died in Smith Center, Smith Co., KS in 1898.

Any help appreciated - Thanks in advance.

Judy Mills Boie - MN

I visited a cemtery near New Pittsburg Indiana looking for the grave of my g-g-g-grandfather Isaac Updegraff b 1816 Ohio / d Aug 1849 Indiana. I didn't find him, but I did find a Solomon Updgraft b 1828 Richland Co Ohio / d 1890 Indiana. The grave stone also listed him as the son of Jesse and Catherine. In 1835 Isaac Updegraff and Susannah Freind were married in Richland Co Ohio so there might be a connection of some sort. I would like to get some clarification on Isaac and Solomon's relationship, if any.
