Louis Bush b. 1841 (imigrated from Prussia) married Phebe Slow, 28 Dec 1864 in Posey County, Indiana. Phebe was the daughter of Wesley Slow, b 1814 in NY and Susan Jane Grigsby, b.abt 1822. Wesley and Susan were married 30 Mar 1842.
Susan Jane Grigsby is the daughter of Tolliver Grigsby and Winifred Johnson

In reviewing your posting, I wondered if your family member is the Louis Bush who mustered into Co. H, 136th Indiana Infantry, from Poseyville on May 14, 1864. He served in the latter stages of the Civil War.

He very well could be. I don't have a lot of information on Louis Bush except that he married around 1864 in S. Indiana. I do know that he immigrated with his family from Prussia and possibly the name was "Americanized". I'd heard he was in the civil war but didn't have any information to go on.

If you have any additional information, I'd be very interested.

Bush, Louis: Pvt. Co. H, 136th Ind. Inf. Louis enrolled from Poseyville, Posey County, Indiana on May 14 and mustered in on May 21, 1864. He mustered out at Indianapolis on September 2, 1864.

Louis was born about 1840 in Prussia. He was a laborer and farmer. In 1860, Louis lived in Robb Township. He married Phoeba J. Slow in Posey County on December 28, 1864. She was a daughter of Wesley and Susan Jane (Grigsby) Slow born in Indiana about 1847. Their children included Mary Elizabeth, John W., Susan Jane, Frederick, and Helen. The family moved to Illinois about 1867. They lived in Saline County near Eldorado in 1870 and in Plainview ten years later. The family later moved to southeastern Missouri near Bloomfield. The veteran was also shown as Lewis Bush or Busch.

We have the same one. Susan Jane (Susie) was my great grandmother. I have them in Stoddard County, MO at least by 1887 because that's when Susie Bush married Hershel Davis at the home of Louis Bush. I new they moved to Saline County, Il around 1870 and have them in Plainview, Saline County, Il in the 1880 census.

I have Louis born about the same time - 1841 and immigrating from Prussia. When, I have no clue. I can't find Louis in the 1860 census.

I too have Wesley Slow as an ancestor. I've not found his parents. My line is from John Toliver Slow (Wesley's) son.
Do you have info on Wesley's parents?
