Looking for information on the James R Lewis family who lived in Posey Co in the late 1800s. James R Lewis was married twice (1) Luella Wade and (2) Edith Dora Reed. There were two daughters from the first marriage, one was Ethel. Children from the second marriage were William David, John T, Herschel and Eva Bell.

James Robert Lewis born Oct. 7, 1861, son of Thompson Price Lewis and Elizabeth Jane Green. Married first, Luella Wade, 1883 and second Edith Donna Reed, Mar. 15, 1888. Edith was a cousin from IL. I have their children as, William who married Minnie Conley from IL, John, Jennie, James who married Elizabeth Kueber, Edith who married Albert Zuspann, and Eva Belle who married Kenneth Crunk. I assume you are from the William David Lewis family since you mention Conley? How are you related?

I do not have anything earlier than 1884 on James R Lewis in Posey Co. I have no birth, marriage or death dates on him or his wives. I have some information on his children. Any information you can provide on this family would be appreciated.

Would your Price fam. be the ones who were farmers in Posey Co in the Poseyville/Owensville area? Ewell Price grad. from Poseyville High in 1923 and was a friend of my father. I remember him from visits when I was a child.

James Robert Lewis died Feb. 21, 1938. Dau. Jennie died Aug. 5, 1895. Minnie Conley, dau. of Williamson Conley and Eliza Sexton, was born May 16, 1889 in Pope Co., IL. Eva Belle Lewis died May 31, 1989 in Vanderburg Co., IN. My grandfather was Price Lewis, son of Thompson Price Lewis I and Elizabeth Green. Thompson Price Lewis I, son of Robert Lewis and Martha Price, was born and died in Posey Co., IN and was a big time farmer in Marrs Twp.

I notice you mentioned an Elizabeth Kueber who married James Lewis. Do you have any additional information on that marriage or her or her parents? Because of the uniqueness of the Kueber surname I try to gather information on all Kuebers.

My father knew Ewell Price. Said he lived on "the sands" where cantaloups were grown, just outside of Poseyville. My father Randolph Walters also said that he knew your father, Harold Brown, from the Poseyville High School orchestra. Harold was a year behind my father. Have more information on Harold.

Information furnished has been a great help. I still have a couple of missing dates. (1) Death date on Edith Donna Reed Lewis (wife of James Robert Lewis). (2) Death date on Minnie Conley Lewis (first wife of William David Lewis). I believe Minnie Conley Lewis had a second marriage but I do not know the name of her second husband.

Edith Donna Reed died Feb. 7, 1933 in Marrs Township, Posey County, IN. I do not know when Minnie Conley died nor if she married a second time. Some of this family moved to OH.
