I am also researching this family. My grandmother was Anna Catherine Cincoski who married John "Jack" Kyle. She died in 2001 at the age of 97 in Seattle, WA They had eight children.
I would love to share information as I only have the birthdates for rest of the children and I would love to get a copy of the photos of Katherine if possible.
I have information back to Adelbert "George" on the Cincoski side and Andrew Szalat and Marianne Kakol/Kogal on the Salat side.

September 19th, 1887- wreck on the Pittsburg, Fort Wayne & Chicago Railroad 1/2 mile from Forest, in Hardin County, OH. Ed Baugh, a fireman on the rear engine, died shortly after crash from his injuries. He was from Fort Wayne, IN.

Telegram Announces Death of George F. Bartholomew in the Far North
On March 1st Mrs. George F. Bartholomew and daughter Belle, who are visiting at the Kuehnle home, received a telegram announcing the death of Mr. Bartholomew at Valdez, Alaska on February 28th.

Mr. Bartholomew had been for over a year in charge of the Valdez office of the Railroad Construction Company, building the Copper River railroad from Valdez to the copper fields of Alaska. Mr. Bartholomew had written but a few weeks ago that he had the grippe but was able to be about. This letter was received by Mrs. Bartholomew but a day before the telegram announcing his death. We are informed that the body will be returned to his birthplace at Valparaiso, Indiana for interment.

Mr. Bartholomew was a son-in-law of Hon. H.C. Laub and was well known to many Denison people. His wife had planned to go to the coast to meet him in the spring and both she and her daughter are prostrated with grief over his sad and untimely death.

I am looking for the Valparaiso Cemetery location for 20th Indiana regiment veteran John Muster, born in Switzerland abt 1829 and died (probably in Morgan, Porter County) on 16 OCT 1887. His Military Headstone card notes simply Valparasio, Porter County. It appears something was written on the back side of the card to explain, but that side wasn't scanned.

Becky -We had connected in the past but then I did not hear back from you after my last note. As I recall you indicated you had some pictures of people you could not identify. I have an Aunt Lois still living and she's age 89 ( and sharp as a tack).Isabel would have been her Aunt. She would most likely be able to identify the folks in your pictures. And she's probably our last chance to do so.

Believe I just sent you a note in Ancestry Public Trees. If your Stephen can be proven the son of Joseph Miller and Elizabeth, then we might be closer to having Hannah Burger's husband distinguished from the man who was the son of Peter Miller. (And I will rest easier.)

Also, this Joseph, Jr. is son of Elizabeth; Joseph and Hannah/Fanny named their first born child Elizabeth.

Don't forget the Bender's. They owned quite a bit of land near Crisman. Joseph Bender was married to Clara Crisman, whose father was Benjamin Grammer Crisman.

I am descended from Benjamin's and Elizabeth's daughter, Clara (or Clarissa)Crisman Bender. Addison, Isaac and Oliver were her older brothers. Clara was my gr-grandmother. I have never seen any photos of the Crismans but would be interested.

i am researching my father's family, last name VANOSKY. i believe i am 5 generations decended from joannes jankowski brother to frank vanoskey. LOVED your research on the vanoskey/ jankowski family tree!

where did you find your research? did you come across why the name was changed from jankowski to vanoskey?

i am having trouble making the connection between my ancestor, john vanoskey and joannes jankowski.
my john vanoskey was born about 1837 in poland, married anna marciniak/ maianiak. lived in star city, pulaski, indiana before moving to chicago around 1900. odd thing is frank vanoskey,son of frank vanoskey and antonia lived 2 doors down in star city and moved to chicago around same time. both families worked on the railroad, i believe pennsylvania rr. the similarities seem too close not for them to be connected. do u have any ideas?

Looking for info on Valparaiso Standards baseball team

In a relatives obit from 1939, it mentioned that he was a catcher for the Valparaiso Standards baseball team. He moved to Portland, Oregon in 1912. I found a 1910 photo online with player names, but he was not one of them.

If anyone has another team photo that may include him or have information on what years he actually played, I would be very interested.

His name was Leonard A. Perry (1886-1935).

I just photographed the gravestone of your Joseph Miller and his wife Fanny, but he isn't burried in the Merriman cemetery,(Boone Grove, Porter County), he's burried in Fleming cemetery, (Boone Grove, Porter county). Fanny must have remarried after Joseph died because the name on her stone reads, "Fanny Miller Long".

Daniel Robert Merriss was buried in Cedar Creek Cemetery in Lake County Indiana. I do not have the dates, only found an "every name listing" for that cemetery. Also listed is his first wife Sarah and their daughter Almira Merriss. On the listing, the surname is with 1 s not 2, but they were 2s Merrisses.

I have different information about the Bartels-family in Schleswig-Holstein (Germany), where Wilhelm B. was born in 1870 on april 19th. He married Ella Sass.
His brother Johann Hinrich was born in 1857 on june 1st, he died in 1930 an was married in 1886 to Louise Zarmt ( in my document with "m" ), who was born in Rostock (Germany)

I checked the Hammond Times obits and did not find anything. You can try contacting the Lake County Public Library and ask the librarian to do a search in the Post Tribune. They are in the middle of a major remodel but the librarian may be able to help.

The family lived and died in Valpariso; I too had found that listing for Opal, it tells nothing of value. I did find a divorce for Ruth & Ernest in 1958
That is why I asked for help on the ground, the internet does not contain the answers I need.

Ernest died 8 May 1983;
Opal died 23 Apr 1992 (listed in obit index);
Ruth died but I do not know when.

Can you help me find obit and/or cemetery location?
There were 3 children: Charles, James & Joyce from the first marriage.

Does your Joseph Miller have a brother named Stephen Miller?
Born 1809 in New York or Pennsylvania. His wife is Minerva Stocker and can be found in the 1850 census in Porter County,
Indiana. She is alone with all their children but no Stephen is to be found. Although, a few houses away is a Joseph Miller with Hannah Burger and their children. I have been searching for Stephen and his parents and siblings. Does anyone have anything on this?

I am researching my great great grandfather James Parks who was in Indiana in 1850 and 1860. Born in Virginia. On FamilySearch I have found a James Parks married to a Susannah Dinwiddie in 1836 in Rush County, Indiana. Do you know if there is any connection to this Susannah Dinwiddie to your ancestors? William & Mary McCurdy Bowman are positively not in our line as we Bowmans (orig. Boman) was changed from Peterson when they emigrated from Sweden in 1869. So there were no Bowman's before that date. Sorry, but good luck on your search, Pat
