Mrs Eliza J Clayton, widow of Francis M Clayton, died at her home in Polk County, Mo 6 miles west of Buffalo, Jan. 22, 1933, at 10:15 in the evening.
Her maiden name was Eliza Jane Beasley. She was born Sept 2, 1839, in Lawrence Co. In. She married Nelson H Fielder in 1855. To this union were born four children: Joseph (b 1856) George (died in infancy) Andrew C (born in 1860) and Sarah J (born 1863).
Mr. Fielder was a Union Soldier in the Civil war, and was killed during the service.
She married John Caldwell in 1870. To them were born five children, Elsworth (died when a child) Nettie (born 1871), Oliver Perry (born 1870), Minnie (born 1878) and William J. (born 1881). Mr Caldwell was also an Indiana Union soldier in the Civil war. He died May 24, 1893.
She married Francis M Clayton Sept. 16, 1899. He was an Ohio
Union soldier in the Civil war. He died Nov 29, 1915. Her children now living are Joseph, Sarah J McFall, Nettie, Oliver Perry, Minnie Van Doren and William J.
She became a christian and united with the Methodist Episcopal church at the age of 16, and has remained a devoted christian and member of that church ever since.
Her children remember her as a kind and loving mother, and all who knew her will pay her tender tribute in their memory.
She had all the care and attention that could be given her, and the most sincere thanks of all are offered to all that good friends and neighbors for what they did to help her and the family.
funeral services were conducted by Bro. Traylor at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Reynolds Chapel, where burial was made under direction of L.B. Jones.
