Thank you for the tip - I'll have to get a month account to Ancestry to look in deeper. According to the 1860 census he was 25, thus born around 1835. And he was born in Kentucky. The Ancestry link shows him as being born in 1829 in Indiana. Given how common the name is, I would be very critical of the sources, to make sure it's indeed that same person.
