I have found that Conrad Hawes was struck by lightning and killed in Miami Co IN. He was on the 1860 census there but not on the 1870 census thus I am going to assume he died bwt the taking of those 2 censuses. The Hawes family resided in Washington twp, south of Peru, IN. Does anyone know if his death might have been mentioned in a Peru newspaper ? If so, does anyone know of a website that might have the newspapers for there during that time frame ?
