Looking for info on Susan Lundgren (Lundragan, Lundergen) . Martin County Marriage Records show her marrying Wiliam Derrig (Darric, Derick) on October 6, 1885.

Looking for family for Catherine Smith b. Ireland who married William Derrig on February 25, 1879 in Martin County. Might be Perry Township?

I have William Derrig's parents as Julia Moran and Patrick Derrig from the marriage transcription.

Does anyone have any info on these people?

Linda

Linda, my husband's gggrandmother was Bridget Derrig, dau of Julia Moran and Patrick Derrig. She supposedly came to this country with her sister Catherine (Derrig) Coleman and Catherine's husband Michael arount 1851. She married George Madden in Cincinnati in 1854 and migrated to Daviess Co. IN soon after. I thought they were from Mayo co. Ireland but I find a Patrick Derrig listed as a flax grower in 1796 in Sligo co. Ireland. I can't find any ship records or any information in Mayo co. Do you know when William arrived in the USA? On my husband's mother's side, she is from a line of Fitzgibbons. The first one to arrive here was a Michael who was married to a Julia Lindergan. They were first found in KY but Michael died and Julia married Michael O"Connor and moved to Daviess Co. IN after 1840 Hope to hear from you. Mary Lou

Hi Mary Lou,
Good to hear from you. I have been searching for more info on the Derrigs and Morans.

You asked if I knew when William Derrig arrived in USA. I don't know. William married Sarah McGuire O'Maley b. 1805, sister to James McGuire, my gggrandfather. Sarah's first husband James O'Maley died, according to what I was told by family, about 1842 at sea. He had left Sarah and was going to send for her later. Family info left to me states that Sarah arrived USA in 1844.

My McGuire's and O'Maley's have also lived in Liverpool, England for a time prior to coming to the US. My gggrandfather James McGuire born Westport, County Mayo, Ireland married Bridget Moran, born Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland and they married in Liverpool, England in 1843, do have copy of marriage entry. Three of there children died while they lived in Liverpool.

Am interested in your Julia Moran wife of Patrick Derrig. Do you have a date of birth for Julia or any other information such as where she was born?

Bridget derrig Madden's death certificate states her mother's name as Julian Moron and since Julian is a male name I believe they ment Julia Moran and her father is listed as Parick Deering. Thats all I know exept she was supposed to have emmigrated with her sister Catherine and Catherine's Husband Michael Coleman in appox. 1951/54 Bridget married George Madden in Cincinnati in 1954 and they then moved to Daviess co. Hi,Linda-

I'm also researching my uncle James Derrig's line.He told me that about 13 years ago he got word from his aunt that his last name Derrig was Omaley at one time. His father,Joseph Derrig, died in his arms when he was 16.His mother had the paperwork and letters regarding the name change but when she went to the nursing home it all somehow got discarded. She has since died and all we have left is what was mentioned.Uncle Jim remembers that at his father's funeral he met an uncle Phil,John,Arnold(or Harold?)and a couple of aunts. He said that a "twin" of one of his (great?)uncles was also there,to him the "twin" was always a legend until he actually met him.His grandfather, died before he was born, but we have reason to believe that his name was Henry Derrig(born IL),who married a Catherine.Henry's father was John Derrig, who married a Margaret Mulligan.Does anything here fit?According to Henry Derrig's death certificate, his father John was born in Canada, mother Margaret in Kentucky
