I believe you are the person I wrote to recently. Since then, I've deleted all my sent messages and so don't have your reply to e-mail you directly. I have discovered that my greatgrandfather was a Michael Strzelecki, father of Martin A. Strzelecki, born August 13, 1875, possibly in Wyandotte, MI. Martin lived in Alpena and worked in a tannery before moving to Detroit. I'm trying to find out where in Europe Michael came from. My grandfather's death certificate lists Michael's birthplace as "unknown," and the same for his wife (no name, even). If you are the person who wrote me previously, you mentioned you go to the county courthouse frequently. I would like to discuss your doing some family detective work for me. Thanks.

In case you don't know it--you entered your msg. in the La Porte Co., IN msg. bd. Perhaps you'd have better luck if you entered on the Michigan message board.

Hi Mary,
Don't know if you still check this site or use the same email but your grandfather Martin and my ggrandfather Andrew were brothers. Their parents Michael and Kate moved to Posen shortly after Martin was born and owned a 45 acre farm. They sold the farm about 1894 and moved into Andrew's house in Alpena where they died in 1912 and 1908 respectively. Andrew and Martin moved to detroit ca. 1915. Their siblings Joseph, Mary and John remained in Alpena. Martin is buried at Mt Olivet in Detroit next to his son (your uncle?) Edward whose stone indicates he was a WW2 vet. The cemetery office couldn't tell me if and where Francis was buried because I didn't know her date of death. Their records did show that she was the purchaser of both Martin and Edwards graves. I do have info on where Michael and Kate came from in Poland if your still interested.
Mike
