I have found out Chester was buried 7/1/39(?) at Elmwood Cemetary in Hammond, Indiana, NOT with my uncle Harold Craig, but in the same lot as Harold and his mother Laura Leadingham Craig. My father (son of Lucille, sister of Harold, daughter of Laura) was told by one of his aunt's Chester was buried in the same grave as Harold, supposedly because the family didn't have the money to buy another plot.
Chester, Harold and Laura were all buried in Section 9, lot South 1/2 196. Harold is in grave 3 north, Laura in grave 3 south and Chester grave 1 south. The plot thickens!
Does anyone know anything about Chester Johnson?
I am repeating myself, Chester Johnson and Lucille Craig had a son, my father, Wayne Morris Johnson, on 12/12/1937 at St. Katherine's Hospital in Gary, In. Chester died about 2 years later at the same hospital. It is NOT known for certain if Chester and Lucille were married at the time of my father's birth. About 1941 Lucille married Roy Smith and they moved to Bremmerton, Wa.
We have no other info on Chester Johnson other than Lucille told my father Chester was born and raised in North Carolina, but have no idea where. I do know on my father's birth certificate it lists as their address on Kentucky Ave (1818?) which was Laura Leadingham Craig' address at that time.
Can anyone Help??????
