Is there anyone in the Vincennes area with connections to the Smiths of Bridgeport, Illinois? I am researching my mother's family. Her father was James E. Smith s/o Theopolis and Rebecca (Smith) Smith. There were 8 children in the family. My grandfather J E Smith grew up south of Bridgeport in the Pisgah area, Dennison Twp, Lawrence Co, Illinois.

Other surnames in the family are Theopolis's parents, Thomas and Elizabeth( Wyatt) Smith--George L and Mary (Banks) Smith (Rebecca's parents)--Geo L parents were John and Rebecca (Ballard) Smith--Mary (Banks) Smith's parents were Alexander and Nancy (Rawlings) Banks. Alexander and Nancy (Rawlings) Banks listed as being married in Knox Co, 1816.
